History

Art Division was founded two years ago by a group of California artists spearheaded by painter Dan McCleary, who, coincidentally, has been named Artist in Residence at the Getty Museum where he will be teaching a portrait workshop in January and February. It provides a comprehensive arts program to help young people seeking a career in the arts after high school to continue their schooling, secure scholarships and financial aid for college, as well as to provide direction and support in finding jobs where their talents can be put to use.

Art Division also offers a literacy program that includes academic tutoring that ranges from writing workshops with experienced mentors, personalized assistance with school work and applications, and proactive job placement. Individualized tutoring and instruction give students the tools they need to pursue higher education, achieve self-sufficiency and obtain careers in the visual arts.

In addition to McCleary, Los Angeles area artists who have lent their time and talent to Art Division include Javier CarrilloEowyn WilcoxJohn NavaMerion EstesKaren CarsonLucas Reiner and the late June WayneArt Division is a registered non-profit organization.
