Marti’s love of art and her background in fashion and design inspired her to create her jewelry line, Marti Designs. Her work has been exhibited throughout Kansas, Missouri, California, Texas and New Mexico. Her pieces have been featured in promotions along Rodeo Drive and in LA Magazine’s ‘One-Of-A-Kind Fashions of Rodeo Drive,’ W Magazine, Kansas City Star, and many other national publications. She has done commissions for such fashion icons as Elizabeth Taylor. Her interest in jewelry and design is informed by her extensive interest in contemporary art.
As collectors of contemporary art, she and her husband Tony are avid supporters and members of such organizations as the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. where they serve on the Collection Committee. They are members of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles, where they also are on the Acquisition Committee. Marti and Tony are members of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) where they serve on the Collection Committee and are members of the Modern and Contemporary Council. Marti is also a member of the Fashion Circle and Costume Council at LACMA. They are patrons of the Nelson Atkins Museum as well as the Kaufman Performing Arts Center in Kansas City.
Marti and Tony founded the Oppenheimer Collection at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art at Johnson County Community College (JCCC), which houses the permanent collection. The College was selected as one of the top ten colleges in the country for public art on campus. Website: www.nermanmuseum.org
